Who We Are
Millions of people use Visual Studio daily, and their productivity starts with the project system. The .NET DevEx Project team’s work is the gateway to enabling those millions to write code for their customers all around the world.
We’re a team that’s never content with “good enough” - we’re always looking for better ways to help people organize their code, ease build maintenance, and keep up with the latest technologies, while simultaneously focusing on performance and reliability. At the same time, we’re building the support for the “new” .NET Core Framework, with a focus on responsive UI and a simpler project editing experience, all of which makes established developers happier and more productive while also enticing new developers to the platform.
If you enjoy working in the .NET Framework, building high-scale tools with a broad range of technologies, and being part of an agile team that’s making the IDE development experience better, come join us!
What makes this a great place to work?
In joining our team, you’ll be working with a creative family of engineers that places a high value on new and diverse perspectives, all to solve challenging and emerging customer problems. We’re also a deeply collaborative team, working closely with other teams inside and outside the division to bring the best end-to-end experience via the latest technologies.
Furthermore, we work closely with our customers themselves using forums and direct customer conversations, as well as via open source, in which we invest heavily (take a look at our GitHub project at https://github.com/dotnet/project-system). Being an agile team that ships features in 3-week sprints, we strongly feel that we can only succeed if harmony, growth mindset, respect, and inclusion are the basis how we work with each other, and together we work hard to hold ourselves accountable to those values.
As an engineer on our ~9 person team, you will be working together with your teammates to:
- Use creativity, team-work, and accountability to master new complex technical areas
- Design, develop and test new features and bug fixes
- Analyze how your code and features are performing in production to influence future product decisions
- Participate in your team’s sprint and product direction planning activities
- Collaborate with partner teams to solve challenging architectural problems
- Stay up-to-date on .NET platform and ecosystem developments
- Using a mix of languages, including C++ and C#. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively to achieve these results.
