Do you think there is enough being done to educate programmers about security?

I often see articles in the news about vulnerabilities that were reported on concerned this or that useful and widespread app, but sometimes struggle to track down a technical overview of the security vulnerability itself in order to understand what to avoid or do better in my own code.

Do you think this is an issue in general with software security, where the technical details are drowned out in a torrent of 50,000 ft. overviews intended for a lay audience in search results? Do you think there should be more technical details in articles reporting on software or really anything else in STEM, even if said articles are aimed at a lay audience? Are we coddling the general populace too much when it comes to assuming what they can and can't understand?

Diverging for a moment, how often does search frustrate you? How often do you feel like if you were to ask a more specific question to a real audience via social media that you would get attacked for your understandable ignorance with "It's obvious if you just spent some time on Google" as it's often stated?
