It was my first time today to share some code here on Hashnode, and I noticed that the piece of code is wrapped in a highly contrasted, sharp and strong black background, which to me, was very harsh on my eyes, as can be seen here

I would be much more comfortable having a less contrasted background that is more friendly to the eyes.

For a dark background, I would vouch for this colour, which Scotch also have implemented

Or if a lighter background is preferred, this one used by Thoughbot is so good

I also love the fact that they do not have any shadows.

To know what the rest of the community thinks, I have made a poll with 3 options, the first is the Hashnode code background, then the Scotch one and the Thoughbot one.

Find the poll on top of this post, please vote and let's see what most people would love to see!

EDIT# A few days later

The wonderful Hashnode devs updated the code background color, yaaaaaay!

This is the new version: less sharper and more friendlier to the eyes. Good work Hashnode!
