How can you make a small change in a big system?

Over a year after I brought up the issue, I had a conversation with the VP of engineering yesterday about the fact that they can't get my name right in our systems at work. There is a bug in our payroll system that deletes the preferred name field randomly, and then people's full legal name gets percolated out through systems at work, such as our SSO, which then pushes my name to things like Gmail, and displays the name in meetings for Google meet. The answer every time I bring it up is "well, the bug is in Paylocity, it's not our system, so we can't fix it"

I keep bringing it up that I'm unhappy with this, and I am vocal about the fact that I won't refer anyone to the company if this isn't fixed, because it's uncomfortable to many people, and actually dangerous to others. I don't know what else to do.

My current workaround is to change what the system thinks is my legal name in our payroll system, but I sometimes worry that could mess up my tax stuff, so I have to change it back around tax season.

Did this happen to someone around here? Do you have any idea how I can fix this?
