How do I get started with front-end in 2016?

I got back-end covered, no issues there. But I'm a complete dud when it comes to front-end. I've never worked with Angular, React or any other framework but I am very comfortable with JavaScript. I understand HTML and CSS. How do you suggest I get to production level front-end programming? What is your workflow, build process?
