Pivot in JavaScript

I came across this tool Webix Pivot (webix.com/demos/pivot.html). It looks okay and not too complicated.

My question though is how hard is it to create a pivot tool like this myself? Do I need a lot of calculations or is it not that hard? Looking at the tool it looks rather simple, but I can't figure out if I'm right or wrong.
