Okay I'm going to be honest with you, this is my first attempt at writing anything, and I just want to give a disclaimer that I'm not an expert at this particular topic.(Now that that's out of the way πŸ‘€).

What the heck is compound knowledge

Fear not it's not a new Javascript framework (πŸ˜‚). This is to all the newbies out there like me.

Here is what a pretty successful man has to say about it

Read 500 pages every day. That’s how knowledge works. It builds up, like compound interest. All of you can do it, but I guarantee not many of you will do it. -Warren Buffett.

I've been into programming for all of 6months, and to be honest, every bit of it has been overwhelming. some days it feels like I'm just about to breakthrough and become that 10x developer, other days I've forgotten how to change the class on an element.

But something interesting keeps happening to me these days and I had to go figure out if this is an actual thing(πŸ€”). And it has to do with the fact that it's getting a lot easier to understand the process of turning an absolutely blank document into a decent web page.

Breakthrough finally??

I've recently discovered that a bunch of the things I thought were just a waste of precious time like:

  • Really understanding how to work with objects and arrays.
  • Playing around with CSS box model on my developer tools
  • Reading a bunch of articles on my favorite site for tricks
  • Listening to (more like binge-listening) to my favorite podcast.

When in reality, I just want to start churning out features into production and become the developer I was meant to be.

But overtime reading a bunch of confusing stuff again and again feels like its a stupid thing, until it started making sense bit by bit.(I'm still not the developer I was meant to be πŸ˜ͺ).

This is where Compound knowledge comes in. The trick is as you grow, your brain becomes really efficient at learning stuff, drawing patterns from different seemingly unrelated topics and making some amazing connections. And that is just a super power the brain has (fascinating right?πŸ˜‰). So going through different sources of knowledge as a newbie might feel overwhelming and (like me) you may be wondering when it would eventually pay off.

But don't let that weigh you down and make you feel like you're not good enough. keep on reading and maybe like me 6 months down the line things eventually start clicking. It's the power of Compound knowledge. And remember....

Practice makes better. -Unknown
