Using docker with a VPN

Let's say I have a home server, this server runs several applications in docker. A subgroup of these applications run on their own docker network called "legalnet". Does anyone know if it's possible to bridge this sub-network to a VPN connection running on the host? Locally I need to connect to port 8080 on one of the docker services, but all traffic reaching out to the internet on this network should be routed through the hosts VPN-connection. (And only this traffic, the host runs several more applications that should use the "normal" route out to the internet).

Any suggestions?
