Which Chatbot platforms are most preferred in the developer community?

Are there some go-to recommendations for getting started with chatbot development? (i.e. Recast.AI, Chatfuel, BotKit, Claudia, etc.)

I'm just getting started with researching Chatbots and am feeling slightly overwhelmed with the numerous guides (usually written by Chatbot API/Platform providers) to get started with development.

Can anyone recommend a guide to learn the difference between these platforms and/or briefly summarize the use cases for them?
