Why I decided to learn front end web development (One year after I had started my Freelancing career as a copywriter and content developer).
My Personal Journey Towards Becoming an Outstanding front end Web Developer.
I’m about to let you into a discrete part of my imaginary and visionary world in which no one else knows about, at least not until now. But before I let you in, I would love to introduce myself for so many of you that do not know me.
My name is Abdulkareem Misturat Dolapo but you can call me Dollypee. I am a 400 level student of the chemistry department at Ahmad Bello University and a writer with an interest in Frontend web development. I love to read, learn new things, and explore them. I also love dogs and playing video games.
So here is how my journey started.
Exactly in the month of December 2018 as I vividly remember I had just returned home from school after completing my 200 level second semester examination and In a bid to find something resourceful to keep myself busy ( and earn money if possible). I was advised by my oldest brother to learn copywriting and search engine optimization (SEO) as they were among the best selling skills to learn. So I studied copywriting books like cashvertising and how to sell with words. I also became active on twitter and began sharing the knowledge I gained so people could learn and benefit as well.
Fast forward to the month of February 2019 I had achieved the following;
- Grown over a thousand followers on twitter.
- Networked with wonderful people here on twitter.
- Started my freelancing career as an SEO copywriter
- Wrote my first copywriting guide titled “ The copywriter's handbook”.
- Got copywriting jobs and contracts from twitter.
- Gave my followers and people looking to learn copywriting a special valentine gift on Feb 14 which was my “ My first free copywriting class”. Along this came with one of my biggest fulfillment that year because a lot of testimonies kept coming in till now. My students were landing jobs and improving their skills.
The Begining Of My Tech Journey.
When I got into my third year I started my industrial training (Siwes) and decided to; learn a new skill again. I decided to make an in-depth research on what I could learn during that period. So one faithful day while surfing the internet I stumbled on a popular and successful internet marketer, storyteller, and affiliate marketing genius...Russell Brunson's the co-founder of the company click funnels. He was the entrepreneur who believed websites are not good for any business looking to make sales. He said and I quote “ Websites are dead” and this was the part that caught my attention. He popularized the concept of marketing sales funnels. So I studied two of his most popular books titled the expert's secrets and dotcom secrets after which I learned how to build profitable sales funnels for businesses (mostly eCommerce and health niches).
A few months later an idea struck me and then I asked myself a question. Would it be possible to convince all the entrepreneurs in the world that websites are dead? Most likely the answer is no. How about I learned how to build websites that could help them grow their brands. From that day I made the decision to learn web development and help them with remarkable solutions to their business problems.
So in this blog ….I will be taking you through two major things.
- The challenges, obstacles, struggles I face in my journey to becoming an outstanding front end web developer, and how I overcame them.
- The detailed roadmap I followed while trying to achieve my goals.
