Thanks for the interesting article - definitely clarified some uncertainties and I found the introduction to length of line / ch properties very useful; I hadn't heard of it before!
Even with CDNs, I think I still prefer web safe fonts!
Yeah, the ch property is very useful and I've only came across it a few days ago.
Even with CDNs, I think I still prefer web safe fonts! Same! The delay with downloading custom fonts is inevitable. No matter how much we optimise the font files, we can never predict what kinda of internet connection the user has.
I just use web safe fonts all the time :-).
