It's really looking useful. Can you provide this template if possible? I want to use it in my notion
I will have to remove some personal information from the notes, so it will take some time, but yes, I plan on sharing the Notion template in the future.

Can u provide a template !?

Can't wait for the template, I will be starting still using Notions upon your example. It will a challenge to set up the database :o for space repetition

Very useful article. Your way of organising all the info is creative and simple. Thanks for the inspiration to improve my own Notion commonplace! For when you want a more structured way of organising some particular topics, like in your "topics and roadmap" sections, Obsidian knowledge base is an amazing tool. Basically, it allows you to create interlinked markdown notes that you can later visualise in a mind-map-like graph. From within Notion you can link to your Obsidian knowledge base, making it easy to separate more structured info from the commonplace, which could be more focused in storing ideas, concepts, bookmarks, or any bits of unstructured info
Hi Juan! Thanks so much for sharing that info about Obsidian. I will definitely check it out!

Great Article!!!. I have been using notion as well, and am in love with it.
Thanks! I'm glad you find it useful. Notion is being great for taking programming related notes so far.

Thanks!

I just heard about Notion, so this article was very timely. I've been using OneNote for years. I grew up on paperback notebooks/journals before the internet became the reality it is today. Great write-up!
Thanks Redge! I used OneNote for quite some time also, but I fell in love with Notion's way of linking information.

I use Notion at work and Trello on personal projects!
I'm all in when it comes to good organization tips!!
Thank you Damian Demasi for sharing it.
Thanks! I'm starting to use Notion as a Trello replacement as well. It has very customisable "Kanban" boards. I've shared a use case in this article: blog.damiandemasi.com/my-second-vanilla-ja… (look for the "Defining tasks on Kanban board" section).

Great article, I too have tried the physical book, iPad and pencil, comments, and notion.
Writing all the code physically, I felt I was wasting too much time and can't see the output. With iPad and pencil, I never felt them be satisfying
Comments were a great alternative but it was tough to organise, Finally stuck to the notion as it's easy to organise, link different sheets and add code snippets.
Awesome, thanks for sharing! I was thinking about using an iPad to take code-related notes, but it doesn't feel convenient. I guess I should try it (once I get an iPad π ).

I could never get used to Notion. I know it's so good :)
But, I just couldn't get used...
I'm still using Trello :)
I think it doesn't really matter what app you use, as long as you are taking notes (and re-reading them later). Apps are just tools that we can use in our programming journey.
Absolutely. Don't get me wrong :) At the end of the day, I'll use your schema in my Trello boards :P

Useful and precisely written article, Surely looking forward to using it.
Thanks! I'm glad you find it useful.
I am actually beginning my journey in learning Web Dev and this will be a huge help towards my goal! Thanks a lot for this article!
Awesome Julian! Stay strong!

Great article ! I am using Notions too and I find it awesome ! Where did you get all of these icons ? How did you add them to your workspace ?
Thanks Robin! I found the icons on the Internet. Then, I imported them into Notion:

Good article! btw, i was wondering if it's a good idea or not to take notes about the methods of programming languages. Hope you can clarify my doubt :)
Thanks! What do you mean? I'm not sure I understand. Are you referring to programming paradigms?
Damian Demasi With that i meant the way we manipulate data types (e.g: str.slice(), str.split(), arr.push(),etc.) so that you don't forget about them. But now that you mention it, is it useful to take notes about programming paradigms too?

gonna try this
Waiting for this only since a while ago. Had searched a lot on youtube for videos but got no luck. Can you drop your template? It would really help us a lot.
Sure, I'll prepare it over the weekend and I'll share it next week (I'll include a link in this post as well).

Good article Notion is one of those essential apps π
This system is a little complicated for me. So I'll start small with important pages like core topics and study progess. Thanks a lot for the article.
No worries! Make it your own!
Great content, thanks for sharing Damian!
(If you're curious to go deeper on that topic, I can invite you to discover Promyze, a platform for developers to define and share best their coding practices, with full integrations with their tools (IDE + Web browsers) ;-))
Thanks CΓ©dric Teyton, I'm glad you like it.
Omg! I literally created my own Notion and Craft syllabus and database to map out my learning plans for Full Stack Software Development. I have over 300+ resources in the database as well. And, dozens of checklists that cover several important topics. I tried to prioritize topics that are necessary for my knowledge. Itβs coming along very well and thereβs enough information and organization at this point that I can begin my journey and Iβm ready to do so.. especially because creating this database & plan took up a lot of my time! I always felt that it was necessary to create a plan because self-teaching is otherwise messy and can be left untracked so how would I be able to measure my progress?
Anyways, I know this is a long comment - but I really just wanted to know how long did it take for you to compile this? Has it helped you stay focused in your learning journey? And lastly, do you think being organized led to your job offer?
I find many similarities between how you do things and how I do things so thatβs why Iβm so curious about so many things. Iβd love to hear your response! Thank you so much for sharing- maybe Iβll share my system on my blog as well!
Thanks for your comment, Aniqa!
Re your questions:
I compiled this from day 1: as soon as I learned something new (a technology, a good practice, a new path, etc.) I put it on the notes. But I didn't stop there. I'm currently using it and growing it. Is like having a second brain.
It has helped me a lot to stay focused, and to have easy and fast access to the most important topics (that I often forget).
Staying organised didn't directly lead to a job offer, but it allowed me to manage my knowledge. I often find myself forgetting important concepts, so, as I know they are in my notes, I can go back to them easily. This, for sure, helps me in my day job.
I would love to see your system!
One more thing: I've just published a post that you might find useful: How to become a web developer in 2022, with coach Gandalf
Thanks for sharing <3 Can u give me the formula to calculate the last recall? Thanks
Sure thing!
dateBetween(now(), prop("Last recall"), "days")
This is a great resource. I'm going to try and develop one for my learning BootCamp. Thanks!
Thanks Dominic Ross!
Great to know the template is available! Thank you. Looks like it's time to migrate ... and Obsidian looks like a great add-on as well.
You are welcome!
Amazing article. Notion is a great app
Thanks! Notion is very powerful, indeed!
A big Thank-you!
So happy I found this article, or else I would still be wondering how I will keep my notes organized.
You are most welcome!
I have been trying to make something like this for a long time. This is perfect! I loved it π₯
I'm glad you find it useful!
Can you export this template for us? I don't want to have to do this all myself manually. Thx
Sure! Take a look at this: blog.damiandemasi.com/i-share-my-notion-te…
