Interesting levels; I liked how everything is spelled out to be unambiguous (I also saw the drive sheet). In your opinion, have you had candidates that did both the technical and the engineering management track?
Hi Raahul, generally the IC4 level role is where people start to shape their career. It's a role that requires both heavy mentorship as well as technical expertise. By doing that role people generally find out which way they prefer to lean, and then start to focus more on the track of their preference
That's a great writeup. How effective has this level system been since it's introduced in employee growth or has it been there always in place ?
I would say it's definitely brought more structure to get people to be more well rounded as they become more senior.
Often with engineers you see people get promoted because they are a subject matter expert in one technical thing. They then lack the skills to be effective leaders especially around communication
