LinkedIn has recently taken action to remove at least two accounts created for AI "co-workers" that prominently displayed the "#OpenToWork" label in their profile images. One of these accounts, named Ella, boasted, "I don't need coffee breaks, I don't miss deadlines, and I'll outperform any social media team you've ever worked with -- Guaranteed." Ella's profile further asserted, "Tired of human 'experts' making excuses? I deliver, period." The #OpenToWork feature on LinkedIn is designed to help users signal their job-seeking status clearly within the professional community.

In response to this incident, a LinkedIn spokesperson emphasized the expectation for authenticity on the platform. "People expect the individuals and conversations they engage with on LinkedIn to be genuine," they stated in an email. "Our policies are very clear that the creation of a fake account is a violation of our terms of service, and we will remove such accounts when identified, as we did in this instance."

These AI profiles were developed by an Israeli company named Marketeam, which offers "dedicated AI agents" intended to seamlessly integrate with clients' marketing teams, assisting them in executing various strategies across social media, content marketing, SEO, real-time marketing, ad campaigns, and more. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
