How to set up Arbitrum Rinkeby Testnet for development
In this article, we'll learn how to set up Arbitrum rinkeby testnet in our metamask wallet, we'll also learn how to bridge some testnet Ethereum over to the Arbitrum Rinkeby testnet.
Adding Arbitrum Rinkeby to Metamask
The first step is to download and set up Metamask, it will be added to your browser as an extension, make sure to store your seed phrase somewhere safe.
To add Arbitrum Rinkeby testnet to metamask, we have to configure a new RPC network on metamask.
To do this
First, open your Metamask wallet, click the accounts menu at the top-right corner, and select settings.
Scroll down to the networks page and select add networks.
Next, fill in the following data.
- Network Name: Arbitrum Rinkeby
- New RPC URL: https://rinkeby.arbitrum.io/rpc
- Chain ID: 421611
- Currency Symbol: ETH
- Block Explorer URL: https://testnet.bscan.com
Click on save, you are now connected to Arbitrum Rinkeby.
How to show Mainnet Rinkeby test network
Open up the metamask wallet, next click on the networks dropdown where it says Ethereum Mainnet, and select Show/Hide test networks
Next, toggle Show test networks to on.
You should now see all the test networks available on the Ethereum mainnet.
How to get Mainnet Rinkeby testnet ETH
After setting up the test networks, the next step is to obtain some Rinkeby testnet eth.
- Head over to https://rinkebyfaucet.com
- Copy and paste your Metamask wallet address and click
Send me Eth.
You should now have 0.1 Rinkeby eth in your wallet.
How to bridge Mainnet Rinkeby Eth to Arbitrum Rinkeby.
After getting some eth on the Ethereum Rinkeby test network, the next step is to bridge some eth over to Arbitrum Rinkeby testnet.
- Log on to https://bridge.arbitrum.io
- Connect your wallet and ensure the network is set to
Rinkeby Test Networkon Layer 1. - Enter the amount Rinkeby eth you want to deposit to Arbitrum Rinkeby Layer 2.
Here we want to deposit 0.09 Rinkeby eth into Arbitrum.
Click on move funds to ArbRinkeby and confirm the transaction in your wallet, you should now have some Arbitrum Rinkeby eth to carry out development on the Arbitrum network.
