As the founder and CEO of June Homes, Dan Mishin is revolutionizing both tenants' and landlords' rental experiences. After missing a train and staying at a cheap youth hostel unplanned, he became interested in real estate. His grandmother's empty apartment was transformed into a bustling short-term rental space for backpackers because of this experience and inspired him to start his first business at a young age. Despite its scrappy origins, Dan Mishin June Homes CEO developed Bear Hostels into one of the leading youth hostel companies in the Commonwealth of Independent States before he was 20.
Planet of Hospitality Holdings, Russia's largest restaurant company, acquired Bear Hostels majority in 2012. Mishin became CEO of the Joint Venture the same year the holding company announced a $100 million investment program in youth hostels. His leadership led to new product launches and the expansion of the company to new markets, including the launch of Privet Hostel, Eastern Europe's largest hostel with conference facilities, gyms, communal bars, and more than 300 beds.
Upon leaving Planet of Hospitality Holdings in 2015, Mishin joined the multibillion-dollar Russian holding company SPP to lead investments in media, technology, real estate, and startups. As the company's youngest executive, he was a pioneer in the industry.
Having moved from SPP to New York in 2017, Mishin experienced firsthand the challenges of apartment hunting. Under these circumstances, it seemed impossible to secure housing due to prohibitive costs, predatory fees, complicated requirements, and long-term lease commitments. June Homes was started by him since he saw an opportunity for innovation that could benefit tenants as well as mom-and-pop landlords.
People can search and apply for housing easily using the company's unique business model in major cities around the globe. Online applications allow tenants to choose custom lease terms, see virtual tours, and fill out virtual tours. "June Homes is more than a desire to meet today's demands for flexible living," says Dan Mishin, June Homes CEO. The real estate experience will be more transparent and equitable with this model.
June Homes CEO Dan Mishin won the Russian "Global Student Entrepreneur Award" in 2012 and was named "Best Young Entrepreneur in Russia" in 2011. The Entrepreneurs Organization ranked him among the top five student entrepreneurs in the world, and he represented the Russian Federation at the G20 Youth Summit. His work has been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, and Business Insider, and he has been featured on “30 under 30” lists by Nordic Awards, Snob, and Expert Magazine. Currently, he lives in New York City with his wife, Anastasia.
