About

The foreword is Hashnode's official publication. We cover AI coding, agents, and developer tooling: the tools that write, test, and review code, the models underneath them, and what all of it actually costs.

Everything before the code ships.

What we cover

Coding agents and CLIs. Agent infrastructure: MCP, skills, subagents, sandboxes, orchestration, context files. The models developers build on, and their pricing. Testing, QA, evals, and browser automation. And the workflow changes that arrive with all of it, from spec-driven development to reviewing code a machine wrote.

We do not cover consumer AI features, funding rounds, executive moves, or research with no shipping consequence for a working developer. The beat is narrow on purpose.

How we work

We go to primary sources, check the numbers ourselves, and are willing to say when something is not ready to build on. When we get something wrong, we fix it and say what changed. Every post carries a named human byline.

What you will find here

Briefs. Short pieces: what shipped, what changed in a changelog worth reading, or one question answered properly.

Features. Longer comparisons, explainers, and arguments, for questions that deserve settling.

Living pages. Pricing tables, release timelines, and feature matrices, updated in place rather than republished. If a number on one of them is wrong, that is a bug and we want to hear about it.

Sponsorship

The foreword is read by developers and engineering leaders who choose the tools their teams build with, in a category where those decisions get made and remade every quarter.

If that is your audience, we would like to hear from you. Tell us what you are launching, who you want to reach, and your timeline, and we will come back with what is available.

Sponsorship is separate from editorial. Placements are labelled, and buying one does not buy coverage, a review, or a place in a comparison. That separation is what makes the audience trust what they read here, which is the thing you are actually buying.

Building something on this beat? We read everything.

Most useful: a link to the docs or the changelog, what actually changed, and who it is for. Least useful: a press release.
