Good to know, I recently set up my gitlab backup as well to store in S3 Glacier. One doubt I have with your approach is what about the uploads?

The files and images which have been uploaded in wiki/ merge request etc are being backed up as well by this method?

No, wikis are not backed up because they are separate Git repositories. They have a .wiki suffix at the end of the url. It's a good idea to add though; to scan for the existence of a wiki associated with the repo and clone it as well. I'll add it to my TODO list ☺
