About Me

Walter Helwich is an experienced IT expert and a leader in developing relevant computer programs.

Walter Helwich’s first software project was for the U.S. Air Force. He created a program to manage the records of maintenance of the aircraft. During this period, Helwich was a part of the programming team for the V-2 missile project at the Lewis Laboratory of the British Research Establishment.

At the V-2 project, Walter Helwich was responsible for coordinating the effort of the programmers and data analysts responsible for the software program for the guidance of the V-2 missile. After completing his military service, Walter Helwich started his career as a software developer, working with the IBM Corporation. At first, he worked on the new S/38 system. During this period, Walter Helwich also worked on the MVS operating system that was under development. The MVS operating system was primarily designed to run the S/38. It was a very sophisticated operating system, as it supported both batch and interactive modes of operation. Walter Helwich also worked on the BMF system that was a member of the System/2 family of computers. BMF was a member of the family of midrange computers.

Walter Helwich’s second software project was for the U.S. Department of Defense. The aim of this project was to design and develop an online data management system for the DoD. The project was a joint effort involving the National Reconnaissance Office, the Defense Contract Management Command, the Defense Information Systems Agency and the Department of Transportation. Walter Helwich’s next project was for the U.S. Department of Transportation. The aim of this project was to design and develop an advanced transportation information system for the department. This project was funded by the Urban Area Partnership, a federal program.

Helwich is currently working on several projects. One of them is a healthcare-related project related to patient record management. The company he works with has more than 200 employees and they provide healthcare information technology services to more than 6,000 healthcare organizations.
