Fun-fact: At the new Bosch CI campus in Stuttgart, I got everything you mentioned above and more, and I am still not satisfied. The more I have, the more I want. For example, if I had a hammock, that'd be great!
However, having a lot of stuff in my workspace, here are the things I think are useful (in no particular order):
- A canteen with balanced food. Good food makes me happy!
- A café, which offers a good atmosphere, waiters and special offers. Especially in winter, people swarm that place and it helps warm up a lot.
- A coffee area, vending machines and employee refrigerators close to the desk. It's essential.
- Focus rooms, which are glass conference rooms which cannot be booked, but freely used.
- Whiteboard walls. Everywhere.
- Open-Space. Everyone has a locker and just sits wherever they want. It's great, because we can always sit together as a project team, no matter who's on the team.
- All desks have a motor to move them up or down. We can decide if we want to sit or stand while working, and change that whenever we want.
- Silent offices. Sometimes, you just need some silence to get a complex issue fixed.
- Big screens everywhere. I can sit at a team bench and connect to a screen and share stuff with everyone. Screens are also used to teach small useful things to employees, like English phrases or how social engineering works. They also broadcast the latest and greatest innovations, so we are always up2date.
- Inventory. It's a space in our reception area, showcasing cool new stuff and ideas for everyone to view and try.
- Sofas, everywhere. Just chill with people and talk about stuff.
- Benches and tables, everywhere. You can take your laptop and sit wherever you prefer. There are even benches which are directed towards the window walls, so you can look outside while working.
- Games, like Foosball tables, pool tables, a PlayStation, etc. They are good to get away from a hard problem for a few minutes and then come back with a refreshed mind. Also, you get to know colleagues. Networking is important in a big corporation.
- Loads of networking and E2.0 tools. Keep connected, exchange ideas. Company-intern.
- Fruitful Office. We have fresh fruits everyday - for free. Just grab an apple, banana, grapes, etc; it's awesome.
- On-premise IT support offices, a field-service, and a hotline. Many problems I have would be a pain to fix myself, so having support is very useful. Thinking about it.. most problems I have stem from the computer being an IT-managed device haha
Things which I don't really use:
- Book-able conference rooms. They are needed, but usually used for big conferences, only.
- Relax rooms. They have hammocks and a 20min timer to relax and be productive afterwards. I prefer walking around, though, or watching the train station in front of the building.
- Swinging chairs in conference rooms. In some rooms, there is literally one. It's strange being the only one to sit in there during a real conference, however they are a nice thing to see and try when taking a stroll.
What I miss the most:
- A hammock. I want to lie in one and work. I once had one at home, and it was great.
