Hi Margaret! Thanks so much for your question.
I've grown a couple of newsletters in different industries, but so far the most effective strategy for me has been launching an email course / challenge.
It helped me get 1.2K subscribers in under two weeks.
I did a detailed breakdown here, but I can summarize a few points:
bloggingfordevs.com/launch-a-newsletter
- Create a 3-7 day challenge to help readers achieve a specific outcome
- Use an email tool like ConvertKit or Mailerlite which have sequences you can use to automate it, so people start the challenge whenever they subscribe
- Promote it in different ways: the course can be highly evergreen and continue to help people no matter when they sign up
The key point for any newsletter is being clear in your messaging about how the newsletter will help them get better at something or achieve a goal.
For example, instead of a headline like "Subscribe to get my latest articles!", consider something like "Stay up-to-date the latest ML news and learn to apply those advancements with cutting-edge tutorials" (just an idea :))
Let me know if that is what you had in mind!
