Any ideas on creating something similar to this look?

I'm trying to think of some good ways to implement something akin to the wave effect at the top of this post in a web page.

So far I'm thinking some svg magic would be best, but I'm not sure if there's a way to color overlaps between different bezier curves. Anyone have any good ideas? :)
