Introduction

In every journey or progress at something, facing a hurdle or challenge, just like change is inevitable.

I appreciate interacting with tech enthusiasts because after listening to their story one thing is clear, our tech journeys are similar only the details are different, more so it helps to know you can reach out to someone to help you overcome a challenge you are facing.

I will share some of the challenges I have or am already facing in my journey.

Imposter syndrome

Everytime I scroll on social media, it's hard to pass a post encouraging belief in self or encouraging us to step out of our comfort zone.This goes to show how often self doubt is and how dangerous it is.

This is not made any easier by job postings demanding years of experience or not really understanding what individuals like Jack Ma really did to get where they are.

However when we see posts of their beginnings, we get humbled and hopeful we can do this too,which we sure can.

Imposter syndrome is real and I believe acknowledging it,owning it and doing it anyway is a great way of overcoming it.

Inadequate access to tech equipment

I got my first laptop in 2016,to be honest it was very discouraging to desire tech and have limited supply to the appropriate technology.I distracted myself by doing business till I eventually got a laptop.Now I use my phone as well to learn coding.

Lack of confidence in my coding skills

Once I finished a coding bootcamp I still felt inadequate in my skills, however we had really been motivated to practice using challenges.This is what I did,I enrolled to hackerrank and it was not easy but I had to acknowledge learning hardly feels easy.

This really helps to boost my confidence as a developer.

Consistency

In 2020,I put in different contributions towards my career around the same time, only for fatigue to catch up with me and I had to take a break.

After the break ,I now had the challenge on how to do all I had done and that prompted a mental block.This was frustrating for a while.

Now am slowly getting back into it,and one thing I am planning to do is,have a plan that helps me to be consistent. So far it's going great and I hope to stick to that.

Conclusion

There are many challenges a developer or any individual can face as they grow into their career.

Challenges help us guide ourselves and others,it's proof of growth.Let's challenge some challenges today.
