Looking for guidance on Using Pgpool2 in production.

Hi guys, currently we are deciding the architecture or a application and for backend we are using Django and PostgreSQL as database. And want to add fail-safe strategy. So recently I came across "Pgpool ||". So is it ok to use pgpool in production? I am still new at this so need some guidance in details.And if he approach is wrong correct me, Please Help.
