My journey to #Frontend greatness.
This needs me to get out of my comfort zone.
The why:
I applied to be part of the Zuri HNGi8 Internship program because it promises to be fast-paced, challenging, helps one learn how to work in teams, deal with pressure and quickly expand one's knowledge.
I love challenges and I want to be the best coder I can be. Ambitious right? Yes, and I am making no apologies. If I learnt anything during this COVID period, it is to dream, make a plan, have clear steps and work on each step and get to your dream. I am a newbie coder and my journey to coding is a whole three to four blog posts...today just I want to share my goals for this internship.
My 4 ambitious internship goals
- Get out of my comfort zone by completing the assignments on time and get to step 10 of the internship and win a t-shirt.
Get out of my comfort zone and improve my coding portfolio by completing 2 unfinished projects currently in my Github to showcase the new and polished skills acquired from the internship. The two projects are:
Increase my developer network by making 4 new connections with other developers in the internship program.
- Get out of my comfort zone by documenting my journey of the internship through a blog on hashnode.
Internship specifics
For the internship, I am on the #FrontEnd track.
A front-end web developer is responsible for implementing visual and interactive elements that users engage with through their web browser when using a web application.
As a Frontend (FE) Developer you need to have your UI design game at 110%. There are a number of tools available to help you design UI and convert designs to code.
One of the tools you can use is Figma
Figma is a web-based graphics editing and user interface design app. You can use it to do all kinds of graphic design work from wireframing websites, designing mobile app interfaces, prototyping designs, crafting social media posts, and everything in between.
Figma is different from other graphics editing tools. Mainly because it works directly on your browser. This means you get to access your projects and start designing from any computer or platform without having to buy multiple licenses or install software.
Here are a Figma beginner tutorial for any FE newbie:

As a FE developer we have 3 technologies we use to make the magic happen:
HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the most basic building block of the Web. It defines the meaning and structure of web content.
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a stylesheet language used to describe the presentation of a document written in HTML or XML (including XML dialects such as SVG, MathML or XHTML). CSS describes how elements should be rendered on screen, on paper, in speech, or on other media.
JavaScript (JS) is a lightweight, interpreted, or just-in-time compiled programming language with first-class functions. While it is most well-known as the scripting language for Web pages, many non-browser environments also use it, such as Node.js, Apache CouchDB and Adobe Acrobat. JavaScript is a prototype-based, multi-paradigm, single-threaded, dynamic language, supporting object-oriented, imperative, and declarative (e.g. functional programming) styles. Here are beginner videos to help you understand and get started should you be on this journey as well. They are from one of my favourite youtube channels: Traversy Media
