Study Less, Study Smart!
I took a lecture on Study less, Study Smart by Marty Lobdell on YouTube and here are some key points i noted
Before studying, check your watch. The moment you sense you’re not getting it, note what time it is, record and take a break. Studying more will not necessarily help RULES
Break your study with little pieces of reinforcement. The moment you start to slide, you’re shuffling against time…TAKE A BREAK.
Find a study area: we are controlled by environment cues *Bedroom❌ Living room❌ blah blah
The more active you are in your learning the more effective Reading/saying over and over till you assimilate (rote memorization) Know if you’re learning a fact or a concept Note: if you can’t put the concept in your own words, then you don’t really understand.
- Study groups (join a community on Twitter)
- Highlighting: Highlight the most important information. Read through first then highlight
- Have adequate sleep. You can undo studying by not having adequate sleep
- Take notes and study the notes immediately after class.
- The best way to learn is teach it reinforces your learning. Activity can take the form of recitation.
- Write what you learn out in your own words
- 80% of your study time is best spent reciting and 20% reading
- SQ3R- Survey, question, read, recite and review
- Mnemonics; acronyms, coined sayings and interacting images.
