What is it like to work as a real software engineer or a full-stack web developer

i am barely 18 years old and joined a computer schience university , i have been coding and learning about web development for about a year now learning to a basic level the following : html,javascript,css,jquery,php,mySQL ,bootstrap and i have been working on some projects of my own like making websites of different kinds.

what i wanted to ask is that i feel kind of disoriented and i want to know what people do in their actual job as full-stack developer or software engineers and what skills i should have to feel confident enough to follow one of these jobs
