With Kotlin becoming Android’s language, how long do you think Java will stay popular?

I hate these types of questions, and I usually refrain from answering, let alone asking them. However, Google’s recent announcement made me think.

I know from personal experience that there are big companies out there who use Java for a lot of projects, be it internal or marketed. But I also read a lot of articles stating “Java is widely used only because of Android”.

With all the security fuss and hate Java receives, I really wonder if this change will affect Java. What do you think?
