Learning JS, trying to get a job doing JS

About Me

Hi everyone, my name is Amy. My professional background goes something like this:

  • front end developer for Sears, Kmart, etc. except that at the time, I was called a FED without using hardly ANY javascript

  • email developer at WebMD

  • several small places where I wore all the hats (designer, developer for both website and email) Again, mostly just html and css and barely any javascript

  • Email developer at Constant Contact

  • Email Template Developer on the Product Team at Constant Contact. Learned a lot. Used git, jira, agile/scrum, sublime text and worked with mustache templating, Grunt, etc. but for code, still just HTML and CSS.

  • Got laid off from CTCT along with 200 others. Realized that I REALLY needed to learn Javascript. Started learning through apps, books, courses online, etc.

  • Took a job as an HTML Developer at Harvard mostly just because I needed a job even though what I really wanted is to be a Front End Developer using my new JS skills.

_ still working every day to improve my JS, also learning about ES6 and react. Loving it and wishing I was doing it on the job. Not sure if I'm ready yet though, so still learning every day.

That's it. I'm here to learn from those who are already where I want to be.
