Currently, GitHub backups push just the title and body of articles.
You should consider backing up more info like tags and date as well, so all that info is available in the backup and the users do not have to add it manually again if they use GitHub repo as a source.

Agreed, the backup would ideally have a frontmatter similar to the markdown import format with title, date, header image, etc. Tags would also be a nice addition.
