well preact is using tech/concept like virtual DOM etc which is patent filled by facebook.
If Facebook holds a patent for the Virtual DOM, then Angular and preact and vue and most other popular frameworks are also at risk. What are we going to do? Use jQuery?
are you sure the patent is about the Virtual DOM concept and not React itself (as a library) ? if that's the case I think it's awful for the community in general

If Facebook patents cover React (diffing, componentization, etc), those patents likely cover Preact/Vue/etc

Hmm, in that case they'll have to pry Vue from my cold dead hands if they decide to change their minds about something; so much nicer than React from a learning to use standpoint for me.
Do you all remember the Apple patent (or copyright who knows) case that was about, at least partially, how Android copied their "bounceback a list after pushing past the end" UI feature. (or vice versa). The problem is not React having a patent clause, its the ridiculous things that large companies MUST get patents for or they'll be patent trolled or get into a number of legal messes.
