Video background has become one of the most common trends in web designing recently. Do you like to see a website with video background? What are your opinions?
When it is done smoothly and with a good reason is a great tool to have, also if you optimize it and add a layer to hide the no so great HD for the size-cover of the video. The really sad and bad part of it is that you have to change your experience on every kind of device 'cause it won't autoplay and you can't trigger it without any click. So that's the bad part.
On balance, against. Motion behind text tends to induce motion sickness for me; and unless you're on a scorching fast net connection it tends to be janky. For a site or service based on video it can make sense but otherwise it tends to feel a bit forced.
It depends!
Do it right and I love it. Push it and loose it.

I haven't used them, personally, but most sites I've opened with a video background have some sort of delay/pauses because of latency. I can only imagine it would be much worse on some mobile phone. I would create some sort of JS animation or lightweight gif if you want to add more action to your site.
