Hey guys,
I’ve been seeing more and more projects asking about Crypto Payment Gateway Development lately, and honestly, I have mixed feelings about it.
Don’t get me wrong, having your own gateway gives you insane flexibility and saves you a ton on fees long-term. But most teams underestimate how complex it actually is. I’ve seen startups burn through 6-8 months and six-figure budgets just to end up with something slower and less secure than a good white-label solution.
What I always recommend: If you’re doing high volume, then yes go for custom Crypto Payment Gateway Development. You will want solid support for Lightning, multiple EVM chains, and proper UTXO handling for BTC. But if you’re just starting, skip the hero syndrome and integrate something battle-tested first.
The biggest mistake I see? Treating security as an afterthought. You need proper MPC or threshold signatures, cold storage withdrawal flows, real-time AML screening, and rock-solid rate limiting. One small exploit and you’re done.
I personally prefer building on Solana or Base for new gateways right now because of speed and low fees, but you still need proper fallback mechanisms.
What are you guys currently using or planning for your Crypto Payment Gateway Development projects? Are you going self-hosted or white-label? I have certain good companies shortlisted on the basis of the experience they hold- Antier, …… explore and let me know which suits the best for your business.
