I love UNIX! Coming to work and having to open a Windows 7 system, breaks me heart everyday. One more thing that irks me is standard issue substandard hardware. Hmphf! 😑
Do you have a story to share here?
When you have a deadline and you committed to the timeline but realize that your estimate was off, but you are still stuck for it so you'll just have to suck it up and work late nights and weekends just to get things done in time.
When you are forced to send files by email to other developers because there is no deploy pipeline. That's really frustrating.
Convince to no-technical boss. Worst thing for a programmers.
Changing specifications. I don't mind the agile development theory, but in practice people still need to plan things out.
It is sad :'( , in my company i have an enviroment with windows, without permissions for install programs and the only way to develop was create a virtual machine with Linux, but the problem when i try to connect to the databases in pre-production continue, i understand you, its sad.
People that are in charge of doing a given task, but don't actually know what their doing, and are allowed to continue to do it because they've done it forever, even though others in the office know better then them.
Working every days on *nix with Virtualbox, because of a windows host...
Bad management. And unrealistic expectations. But those usually go hand in hand.
Maybe still making deploy through FTP system, having some third party libraries outdates or to upgrade, still using grunt instead of webpack and having code to refactor. The good point it's that we are moving forward to fix all the things and the company have an open mind
As a programmer, I hate the content filtering and URL blacklisting which happens on a proxy level. They don't let me go to all sites because the sites contain "IRC/Messaging", "Entertainment", etc. It really is difficult sometimes. There was a time when I could not even access Reddit, even though people write some interesting and sometimes important stuff there. I cannot join the IRC channels of some products in order to ask for help. I feel a little shut-in. Sure, anyone could trick the proxy with an external proxy+TLS+custom encryption (since the proxy sometimes breaks open TLS as MITM...), but I think fighting my employer is not the point of it at all.
I, too, love *NIX and I would welcome a Distro like KaOS or Mint at work, as they are really user-friendly (as opposed to my Gentoo at home, which is a nightmare when I want to be productive, but find out that some updates or circular package dependencies get in my way). I have to use Win7 and will have to upgrade to Win10 soon.
Team work sometimes is a b*tch, when you want to use certain software, but can't, because the others have no experience using it (and don't want to learn using it, even though it would have a lot of benefits for different parts of the product lifecycle). I had to settle for Windows Server instead of RHEL, TFS instead of Git, etc.
At least they hand a CAD laptop to all developers (for speedier compile times and smoother tool usage), so I have an i7 CPU, a dedicated NVIDIA graphics GPU, and an SSD. Lucky me :)

A dude that likes internet
I hate lots of too stuff dude, but miserable? I don't know how to put that, but being miserable because of an OS seems a bit to extreme, are you sure there are other ulterior motives for your feelings about this job?
