I have an odd request from a new client. He does not want me to bill meeting time. He also wants to keep some meetings at his office location which is an hour's drive from where I stay. He is not willing to compensate for my commute time as well as charge higher rates for onsite work. What do you do in those circumstances?
Also, I want to know how Indian freelancers handle these things. Do you bill meeting time and commute time and charge higher rates for onsite work? Thanks.

If I'm not on "my own time," I'm billing. I don't give a damn if I'm twiddling my thumbs because I'm bored.
I mean, I've worked in "support" roles where I would spend many days with a client doing nothing but sitting in a chair for 8 hours a day. Ultimately, it comes down to the fact that you are compensated for your time. It's not my problem if the client doesn't give me work to do.
