Frontend devs handle very different problems from backend devs. Both can be difficult.

An application can exist without a frontend (take APIs as an example). It cannot exist without a backend.
I believe backends deal with more abstract concepts than frontend. Storing something in an invisible server session is very different than seeing a box on the screen.
A frontend doesn't face challenges like database optimization or server stability. There are challenges like screen paint time and making a UI performant, but those aren't on the same scale.

Surely with just a frontend we can evolve past inefficient slow databases and backend language through static site generation. By precompiling dynamic content into fast efficient static html served by NGINX. Then add some PWA Progressive Web App style Service Worker caching. Then move beyond the legacy way of using databases and backend languages.

If your data is static then yes you can use static generators. If it isn't then you can't.

Cactus Dove , i believe you are already doing a bit of backend by configuring NGINX

DevOps is different than front end and back end development concerns. Luckily NGINX is just a couple lines of JSON for configuration and not programming.
