Future is bright and remote first. But having said remote first does not mean full time remote, there would be monthly or quarterly meetings of the entire team cause that builds up the relation which is must for any company to grow.
Face to Face interactions builds up the team and spirit to stay awake for that one extra hour late night.
I have lately switched to remote job and I feel there should be some face to face interaction between team members at times.
