We've been using openshift's free small server to rapidly prototype apps and ideas, migrating ones that make the grade to commercial servers.
Openshift's free small gears have been invaluable in being able to test a lot of different ideas, but they're retiring that service and I'm not clear if the new NextGen service will allow these small projects for free.
Does anyone know of other services where we can spin up free small servers to test ideas on before migrating successful ones to paid servers?
I finally managed to get into Open Shift's developer preview.
The new platform is very nice. You get more RAM etc than previously and can allocate that to your pods (previously cartridges) but you get one free project as opposed to three.
It's also now linked to your gitHub account and uses that as the repo with webhooks to trigger builds after pushing.

AWS? I guess AFAIK you are within the limits, it is free. I have yet to receive bill from them and even then it wouldn't cross more than couple of bucks!
