I still didn't make that decision yet because of how big the tech world is. so I'm wondering how did you all decided what field in the tech world you want to specialize in ? and if you didn't have the luxury of choosing, how did you end up with the job title you have (or had)?
This question is too complicated to answer because there are too many paths to take in the tech world nowadays.
For example, see Developer Roadmap where you'll find three different paths:
You can start by taking a look at any of those and then try one of the languages they suggest, see if you like it and then continue to another language/library/framework related to that path.
For example, I could describe my current profile in the roadmap as follows:
RubybundlerrspecMySQL, PostgreSQLRuby on RailsnginxAs soon as you make up your mind about one path, try to stick to it and learn as much as you can to build apps with confidence. Try not to distract yourself from learning too many things but try to master a few.
Of course, from time to time it's ok to try a new library/framework. Just be sure to be very good in at least one ππΎ
I did not decide yet, but one consideration has arisen and gets stronger:
even if there is always time to adjust the aim (and, theoretically, in tech could be easier than in other fields), should not be just for money :)
