1. Be organized and responsible
2. Write everything down from meetings with clients or developers (insurance)
3. If something bad happens, it's on you. If something good happens, it's on the team.
4. Review everything, carefully (especially code)
5. Don't blame people for their mistakes, compliment them for their assertions (How to make friends and influence people - Dale Carnegie)
6. Use a calendar app to manage your appointments and never lose track of time (You should be able to manage your team and also get your tasks done)

More importantly, don't be afraid of making mistakes and don't freak out due to the amount of tasks. Exercise your body (running is a good option).

Some thoughts of mine without a specific order:

• Study really hard
• Invest in your own education a lot
• Create a nice studying pattern and make this a good habit of yours. Some examples: read an e-book every month, watch a tutorial every week, attend a seminar or a conference every 3 months, study an article every morning while enjoying your coffee before starting work and many more
• Write regularly some articles about the topics you enjoy talking about
• Start talking to conferences to push the limits some more and listen to other experts talks
• Write lots of code by testing things and making your hands dirty first before starting searching online / visiting stackoverflow.com
• Let others to review your code so you can learn faster new things and best practices (yes even team's leaders code should be reviewed since you are a leader and not a boss right?)
• Don't be lazy and try to organize things in tickets
• Appreciate others efforts
• Review other developers code and remember how anxious you feel when someone is reviewing yours. Express yourself in a polite manner
• Be a team player
• Follow agile pattern and sprints to group tasks and functionalities you need to apply
• Arrange short calls on a daily basis to spot issues and track progress
• Be a problem solver
• Use a modern ticketing and VCS system such as Github, Gitlab, Jira etc
• Use weight / priority labels for the tasks you are assigning to other people
• Before making a new decision create a ticket and invite others to share their thoughts / experiences. By doing so you 'll be amazed about all the new things you are going to learn and the appreciation your team's members will show
• Take the most difficult tasks for yourself
• Apply some strict linting checks to improve codebase and restrict stupid mistakes and bad coding practices
• Enforce using TDD and CI
• Prefer taking the blame than pointing the finger in public discussions
• Once i read in a ticket created by some company's CTO: This was broken by A and B. Don't be this guy.
• Remember always that you should be a leader and not a boss
• Follow same rules with your teammates
• Talk always using WE and never using I in team's calls
• Never forget how things were when you were a rookie developer and how important was a nice word and a friendly comment by an expert. Be that kind of expert.
• Don't be a bla-bla guy who speaks a lot and after 10 mins nothing makes sense. It is boring, unprofessional and proves you have a big ego
• Let the others talk first and try to speak in the end after reaching to a conclusion when things turn bad
• Always help and never school others
• Care about your team's members as if they are part of your body. If you haven't noticed you rely on them a lot too
• Be grateful
• Make mistakes but always take the blame and never hide
• Never use funny and fake excuses to support a point of yours or hide your weaknesses
• Learn how to say Oh i didn't know this, thanks since you are a human so it is impossible to know everything after all
• Be honest with yourself
• Be honest with your teammates
• Try to be fair
• Try to improve your teammates and mentor them
• Listen to them and never hurry to judge them
• Think twice before arranging a random call because stupid calls kill your team's productivity
• Always prepare an agenda and share it before a call
• Treat yourself like someone who is still learning and not like someone who knows everything above this planet
• Take care of your health and add some exercise in your life. The more healthy and happy you are the more effective you become
• Remember to appreciate time away from coding and have fun apart from overworking yourself. It may sound contradictory but people who do not enjoy their life and live just to work, tend to become extremely harsh and unpleasant towards their inferiors since they demand same commitment and this is really unfair.
