The above video by 3Blue1Brown comprehensively explains everything a beginner developer should know about the basic working principle behind the blockchain technology.

• Once you digest the working principle behind blockchains, read the actual white-papers which are precursors to the tangible (can I call it that!) technologies that we know to be Bitcoin Network, and Ethereum Network

Skimming through them would give you a stark idea on the differences between the technologies, and how Ethereum surpasses Bitcoin's modus operandi of being a proof of concept for a decentralised economy.

• Bravo, you know way more than a "blockchain-layman" developer! Now go ahead, and build some awesome contracts on the Ethereum network, or go issue your own crypto tokens. 😁👇

In past few months, what I have learnt, let me sum it up in short.

1. First start with fundamentals of blockchain, what it is and how it functions. Now there are several different blockchain but the fundamentals are embedded into Bitcoin blockchain. Thus, one need to have a clear understanding of what and how bitcoin blockchain functions.
2. Once you get hold of blockchain basics and it's functionality. You may now start reading about some specific blockchain like Ethereum or hyperledger or bitshare to name some. You see different blockchain has different features and API's to access them. Thus, it's like you end up being a React or Angular or Vue.js developer. But all originate from Javascript basically.

First of all it would be great if you understand how Bitcoin and Bitcoin's Blockchain works and after that you will have a solid understand of Blockchain and how it is different from traditional Server-Client architecture.
