That is timeless and actually complicated question: why choose/do X over Y. Why did people learn React except it was made by Facebook and was trendy? Why don't simply give Vue a try and see it for yourself? Number of upvotes on that poll clearly suggests that there is a lot of people that prefer Vue. I think the best way to find out is to check Vue docs and examples (also vuecasts.com). I think that generally every developer should invest few hours from time to time to get familiar new libray/package/framework because sometimes to make the best choice you need to know what's on the table.

I'm not really good with React so I don't think my comparison would be good. I prefer Vue because it was easier to learn and more fun to use than Angular and React. It is well supported and it's getting more and more popular each day.
