I think: Minimalism. Black and white, focus on content.
Shadows are going to be less popular. They'll only be used if it has a true purpose (like with tooltips). The floating action button is going to disappear. Morphing elements and subtle transitions are going to be more popular.
I'm personally a big fan of EvilRabbit's work on Zeit's products.

If you are talking about Google, a better and cleaner version of Material Design would be better. The current material design guidelines, I think, aren't completely fit for web.
I am liking what Microsoft is doing with the Fluent Design System. They are back with transparency and glass like design. This time it looks way better than their previous attempt (Ahem... Windows Vista disaster).
On a personal note, I would make Glitch's design language the web standard if I was made the king of Internet for a day! ;)
