Where do you like to work from?
🏢 Office or ⛱ Remote
Personally, I love working remotely as I feel I'm more productive, and I love to attend meetups and conferences, hence why remote work suits me.
Which one do you prefer?
Remotely mostly because it abstracts me of all possible distractions, small talk, commute. I get to plan my day and deliver effectively
After 21 years of working from home, I started a new job almost 2 years ago that required being in the office almost all of the time, and much to my surprise I mostly love it. While it does have the danger of distractions, for the kind of work I do it's mostly perfect because my users are sat around me. It helps that it's a great location, and that the people I work with are fun and deeply knowledgable.
I never thought I'd say this, but right now, there's no way I'd trade this for working from home again.
So I guess it's a huge "it depends" from me. I can imagine another job that would have a less-than-wonderful office environment but a great technical challenge making me okay with working from home again.
Funny you ask! I just talked about this with my superior the other day. Personally, I don't really care, because both have their advantages and disadvantages.
When having phone conferences, I prefer working from remote, because I can get comfortable on my couch and no one will notice. Coding most often also is a lot more comfortable from home, because I have my personal space, which inspires me.
However I often also want to go to the office, because I want to see my colleagues. It is always fun to talk to them, and I can get a lot of information over a coffee break or lunch. Getting together to discuss a complex matter on a whiteboard is something which is not possible from remote, too.
The important part for me, though, is that I can freely decide when I want to work from remote (from home, from a friend's, from some place abroad,...) and when I want to go to the office. Luckily, I have that kind of freedom, which is great!
You should’ve added an option like “either” or “doesn’t matter”. For me this is the case.
I really like coming to the office, seeing my colleagues in meat-space, talking with them and all that. But i also like to sit at the side of the stream in my backyard, work from a teahouse, or from the warmth of my blankets.
Actually, i need both and i think, given otherwise healthy working conditions, this is the case for everyone. We need social interactions, but we also need our private, secluded space (even if it’s a crowded teahouse or coffee bar).
I love remote work. My ideal setting would either be a remote-first or an exclusively remote setting or living close enough to the office so I can check-in several times a week to connect with teammates.
Depends on the job. office for short communication lines, remote for the rest.
This is like the ideal way to have this options. For focus work, do it at home. To share with teammates and build stronger relationships, the office.

I like Remote but for me, the Office space provides more communication with people.
If office space has people to communicate and share experiences, then the office is great.
If remote gives freedom but at the same time one can not mix enough with other communities; it may turn out to be a bad experience.
I have never worked remote and look like I might not do so in the near future; the far future is a mystery.
I would like to try remote work.
