I started exploring a few languages on CodeAcademy a few months ago but I want to get more serious about gaining some programming skills. By profession, I'm a Tech Talent Sourcer and I'd like to have an actual grasp on software engineering from experience rather than what I read in job descriptions. I'm doing an intro to HTML and CSS seminar next week with General Assembly and eventually, I think I would like to gain a basic understanding of Javascript and React.js.

For HTML and CSS I just refer to the docs. developer.mozilla.org/en-US
However, for one starting out or just generally learning more then I'd say go on youtube and find a tutorial course for beginners. It's free and there are LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOADS of tutorials on there so it's easier to just pick someone you like/can actually pay attention to and code along.
