If you're like me, webpack is going to feel crazy at first, but it provides so much utility that learning it is 100% recommended. Cool side-effects are you'll get a little more comfortable with url parameters, regex, and the syntax of configurations. Google-foo will most definitely be required - even the Seniors at my job still have to google how to build with webpack at times. But it's such a great tool you won't regret it.
