It seems simple enough, one could probably setup an asterisks box to route phone calls from your office phone number to skype / mobile or some other VOIP device.
We will skype the most time at first, but we are looking for a ip telephone system, so that i can use my work number at home for better communication.
For connection to the firm intranet we use a simple vpn connection, so i am able to access all the relevant documents.
For tickets, work time and this stuff we use our own software (eat your own dog food). We develop erp systems and modified one software so we can track our working hours, the customer tickets and this stuff.
How is the project managed remotely, what kind of software do you / they use to keep track of everything and what processes are in place to keep communication with everyone else ?

I had some home office days. In january i will move back to my old home town, 180km distance to my current work place, so i will work remotly.

That is just my experience and opinion. If you work from a cafee, or you have a wife at home which cooks for you your experience can differ from my.
But I am reallly looking forward to work from my home.
