Not the weirdest, but some of the best pieces of advice I've ever got!

"Setup CI/CD" - I still laugh when I remember the days where I upload the files using FTP/SFTP

"Learning new technologies is fun, think twice before using it in production" - I've heard this advice before, but only realized it after we switched from VueJS to ReactJS!

"Use p80 rule while building" - Optimize for 80% of your users. Leave that 20%. As a startup, I think this is really great

"You can never build a perfect product" - Ship fast, get feedback, iterate

The P80 rule has to be used with caution though. Don't automatically exclude them from use. The key word there is optimize. It's ok to hand them a degraded experience, so long as they can still get to or do whatever it is your site/program is there to do.

That's why it's so comical when people do things like try and throw VML and JavaScript at sites to implement the new CSS3 stuff like text-shadow, box-shadow or rounded corners. Oh noes, the people on browsers soon to be a thing of the past don't get rounded corners? Really?!? That is not something to bend over backwards for or to waste code on implementing.

If you build progressively and let things gracefully degrade, you can still make the page useful/usable to those old UA's and users with accessibility needs, while putting the effort towards giving the optimized experience to those living with us in the 21st century.

The P80 rule is good advice, but I've seen it misinterpreted and abused as a lame excuse for bad practices far, far too often.

That's true. P80 cannot be applied everywhere. I've seen some of my colleagues spending too much, tooo much time for even 1%. Yes, it won't work especially if you're in a big company

Regarding about ship fast, I always tell them good delivery first, ship fast later because I don't want them to neglect:

track the bundle size (seems too specific for PWA cases 😅)
CI/CD
Automate and having smoke and unit tests
