In my cupboard you'll find books related to programming, all kinds of them. When I was in college I had no time to read novels or fiction, most of my free time was spent coding or watching TV shows.
I think I have watched all the good TV series and movies, now I am looking for productive entertainment, something thats fun and knowledgable at the same time.
In non-educational category I have read books like My Experiment with Truth, Mein Kamph, The Alchemist, Robinson Crusoe, Think and Grow Rich and some more.
What are some good novels and fiction that you read?
With any given chance I would pick up a book in my mother tongue, Bengali... I got collections by Tagore, Satyajit Ray and many others...
Sad part is, weekend is decided between those Vs react, Gatsby, js, ml, python...
Your question poked me....this weekend will be with Tagore's...😄😄😄
P.S: I can't stay awake for long with many motivational books though...😤😤😤
Pick up the book Ramayana and Mahābhārata and read those.

MODS: Don't remove this comment, I am just trying to be funny here.

Reading books is a very good choice for the entertainment. Read regularly and you will see how your imagination, calmness and productivity goes up. It also helps by giving you some perspective and distance to everyday life. Believe me, TV series and movie won't give you that, they give ESCAPE but not a healthy DISTANCE and PERSPECTIVE I was talking about.
The kind of books depends on your interests. For example, I like reading biographies of scientists and inventors. There was times when I loved science-fiction books, but know I prefer novels immersed in reality, preferable in some history period.
Maybe you can use some sites that will help you find books that are close to your interest. I will give you some tips on:
1) don't waste your time if book doesn't move you or draw you in after several dozen pages. Find something else that will do it for you.
2) you need some time to gain momentum in reading, so first 2-4 weeks of reading, after a long break, can be a little bit difficult, but it will get much better after couple of weeks and you will enjoy reading much more. For example it's like with running: muscles have to get used to the effort, but after some time that effort gives you a real pleasure and entertainment. The same goes with reading and "brain muscles";)
3) if possible, try not making more then 2-3 days break in reading a given book, it slows the momentum you have with the reading experience.
Have fun with reading, it is a good move for a programmer!
