What are your thoughts on coders/programmers joining startups for 3 to 6 months internship. Do you think they are useful?
Kinda, you need real world practice the only thing that's really important is, get something you get the most value off. And if they pay okay, which is bearable and you learn a lot that's an actual good trade.... don't forget our budget is our mind the better we get the more value we have.
I had a crappy internship actually one plus a crappy job at the same time before I got my first chance in a real company.
I think an internship either in the summer or as a part of your semester is a very nice way to get your feet wet in the industry. It's also important to have good mentorship and actually build something during your internship.
My first taste with the industry was actually an internship as a part of my final semester in college, three years ago. I luckily had the chance to learn a lot and it helped me shape my future in a very very good way. I was pursuing a CS degree, but didn't quite know how the industry worked back then.
It was a backend engineering internship and until my first day, I didn't know what MongoDB was or what 'GET', 'PUT', 'POST' and 'DELETE' were. I learnt a huge deal though, so much that by the first weekend, I had started shipping API's. I matured into the backend engineer role during the course of my internship and was offered a job at the place I interned at when I graduated. I also learnt a huge deal about websockets and elasticsearch and went on to build a lot of APIs for WEYV.
So, if you're in college and have the chance to get an internship, you should totally go for it. If you have already graduated, I would recommend building some side projects and apply for a full time role.
It's a good idea depending on how it goes. It's a good idea for these primary reasons:
Hello,
From my point of view, i believe that "Internship" came only to hire people without payment.
As i can see from a lot of companies seeking for a Internship, This position will be held for a person who is mainly fresh graduate. However, How fresh graduate will Scale, Build & Learn from the company if they only have him/her in the department!.
If you didn't get my point, i saw many companies seeking for Full-Stack or Developer as Internship. After discussing with them and read about the company i'm figuring that there are no one works as Product Engineer, or a person who is leading company tech side. So how you will scale and work in this case if you are fresh! .
As i mentioned before, All my view for internship goes to "Works for free" nothing else.
